Some people see “change” as a difficult challenge, something that is not worth pursuing, maybe because they have fear(s) of the unknown, or because they have become comfortable with existing conditions. I see “change” as an opportunity, an opportunity for something better. While it is true that change does not ensure a situation will improve, what is guaranteed is that if no change is put in motion then things will remain exactly as they are.

“Don’t Let Yourself Get Too Comfortable”
Comfortable is another word for LAZY!!! Think about what happens when we get comfortable; we stop paying attention to the details, we lose focus, and that is usually when accidents happen. Lest we not confuse comfortable with satisfied, you may be satisfied with the outcome of a particular event/activity, however if you get too comfortable, the desire to improve begins to wane. In the context of improve[ment] I’m referring to anything that advances our overall quality of life, and well being. This would include but is not limited to; our health, relationships, work, and social circle.

Often people will carry their accomplishments (rarely will they carry their shortcomings) almost like a badge or banner long after the work has been completed. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
Excerpt from: I Have A Dream, delivered August 28, 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.
The preceding passage from Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech is evidence of the steadfast courage and a testament to the faith that Dr. King possessed. We should all be so fortunate to have the same courage that he demonstrated in the face of relentless resistance against the movement for equality and true freedom for all so as not to resort to the lower levels of physical violence, but maintain a higher resolve. We must have faith that “soul force” will forever prevail over “physical force.”
In this day of remembrance, let us heed Dr. King’s call and not look at the shallow exterior of our fellow humans; but instead, let us look deep, deep inside ourselves and others to see each other’s heart with compassion and tolerance.
Have a Great Day

“Think Before You Speak”

“Present Moment, Wonderful Moment”
Your past is a valuable resource of information and experiences. The past is a wonderful teacher. The past is a point of “REFERENCE.” However, the past should never be a place of “RESIDENCE”…In other words, it’s ok to “visit” your past (occasionally) but you shouldn’t live there!

Ever wonder why we have one mouth and two ears? Besides the obvious aesthetics, I submit that it is because we should listen twice as much as we talk…

“We’re All in This Together”
“Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and nature. That is not just a dream, but a necessity. We are dependent on each other in so many ways that we can no longer live in isolated communities and ignore what is happening outside those communities.”
---The Dalai Lama

“Inspire Others”
If I inspire someone to think about doing something positive, that is good;
If I inspire someone to take action, and do something positive, that is great;
If I inspire someone to think and take action to do something positive and that in turn inspires others to do something positive…that is the ultimate.

“Thank You!!!”
Two very simple words so often go unsaid. I truly believe that becoming a good citizen, one that contributes to and supports his/her family, community, and humankind as a whole, begins with the ability to show gratitude; being grateful for the help and support that one gets, be it in the form of friendly advice or help moving into a new house, is only part of the equation. You have to have the strength to acknowledge that you didn’t do it all yourself. This takes modesty and it helps to keep you grounded.
To that end…
I extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the people that have become “fans” of Creative Genius Inc., Daily Inspiration. Your support is very encouraging and truly appreciated. In an effort to expand the flow of positive energy and “inspiration” throughout the universe, I would like to call on all of you and ask that you reach out through your network and invite your friends to become “fans” of Creative Genius Inc., Daily Inspiration. http://creativegeniusinc.blogspot.com/
Thank you again…

“Where do You LIVE?”
Often people will live in the past in an attempt to understand why something happened or to right-a-wrong that had been done to them. Sometimes people will live in the future with grandiose fantasies of happiness when [fill in the blank] happens. For example, "I’ll be happy when I get a new car, job, house, or boss."
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for have goals and wanting to improve oneself and/or ones conditions; however, the place to do the work that is required to “change” an existing condition is here and now! Remember:
Yesterday is what we call “History”
Tomorrow is what we call “The Future”
Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the “The Present”

“The Choice is Yours”
Regardless of one’s current situation or the circumstances that one was “born into,” there comes a point when the difference between poverty and wealth, addiction or recovery, victim or victor, poor health or wellbeing, stagnation or improvement, is nothing more than a choice…
And the choice is yours!

“Before you Speak…”
Before you say something, do a “self-check” and ask yourself these three questions:
1. Is what I’m about to say absolutely necessary?
2. Is what I’m about to say going to be helpful or hurtful?
3. Is what I’m about to say going improve on the silence that was?

“Which Wolf Do You Feed?”
An elder Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me..It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride, and superiority. The other wolf stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside of you and every other person too.”
They thought for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” the old Cherokee simply replied… “The one I feed.”

“Getting Things Done”
Don’t confuse action/activity with accomplishment(s).
Often people think that because they are busy, they are getting things done [read accomplishing their goals] … Unfortunately, this I not always the case. Take, for example, a car that is stuck in the mud while the wheels are spinning round and round - this may constitute a lot of action; however, you and your car will be going nowhere. To that end, it may be useful to utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) also referred to as Key Performance Measures (KPM’s). These tools are sometimes used to compliment task lists and timelines for task completion.
In a nut shell, KPI’s offer a method to gauge/measure progress toward a goal and/or task completion. A KPI may be as simple as a spreadsheet indicating a start date, completion date and intermediate progress expectations at specified junctions. Or it may be a very detailed, full on Gantt Chart. When we approach task completion with predetermined (documented) goals, coupled with measurable progress points, we are much more equipped to stay on task, remain focused and we have a useful tool that helps to validate our progress.

“Taking Care of Business” (yours)
There is a saying that goes: “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.” Maybe so… However, it still needs to be watered, fertilized, weeded and mowed… My point? Stop looking over the fence and start taking care of business (yours).

The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield
In this easy, quick read, Steven Pressfield brilliantly defines resistance (resistance in the context of ANY self defeating/self sabotaging behavior). He also identifies ways to recognize and counter [read: overcome] resistance in an effort to realize and bring to life that which you and ONLY you can bring into existence. What is this “thing” that you need to bring to life? It is the special and unique gift(s) that you share with the rest of us, not as a means of self promotion, but because it is what you/we are meant to do.

“Begin Within”
Greetings and Happy New Year! I would like to offer my personal “mantra” (Begin Within)
Though it sounds easy enough to “begin within” we often look to external sources (these sources may be in the form of other people or circumstances) for validation, change, justification, a sense(s) of worth, opportunities to re-direct responsibility (read…blame), or the satisfying of some void, the list goes on and on, you get the idea.
When we look externally we surrender not only responsibility but our power! To that end, don’t sell yourself short. Be your true self, the empowered you that can make a difference, that can be the change that is so desperately needed. But remember: said change starts with you, within YOU! “Begin Within”
